Reopen a session and it still reads from the cache, and a cloned repo runs nothing until you trust it

Close a session and reopen it with soma start inside the cache window (an hour for Claude models with long retention, five minutes otherwise): Soma keeps its system prompt exactly as it was, so the provider reads the conversation from cache instead of processing it again. On a live session reopened 3.6 minutes later, 30,350 tokens came from cache and 29 were written; before, every restart wrote 199,000 to 365,000 again. soma start shows which stopped sessions are still warm. And a folder that arrives with a .soma/ (a cloned repo) keeps its notes but runs none of its code or scripts until you trust it.

meetsoma core goes open source — session management, transcript reduction, browser tools

Install from npm, read the full runtime on GitHub. soma attach lists every running session and takes you to one; soma start reopens stopped ones with full history. /reduce shrinks long transcripts ~60% while keeping the original; /resume-reduced continues in the copy so you can keep going instead of rotating. soma -c continues YOUR session, not whichever child wrote last. Browser health check proves a tab is painted, hydrated, and running your latest build before you debug.

Earned command trust + delegation through files, not fragile arguments

guard.trust lets Soma stop re-asking for commands you've already approved three times in a project (30-day expiry, per directory — never for destructive commands). `soma:agent.claude` delegates large tasks through a file contract instead of a command-line argument, removing a silent length ceiling, and `soma:agent.fold` reads what a delegated child noticed about its own role and feeds it back in. Plus a graduated keepalive ladder and real markdown conversion for fetched docs (~82% smaller than raw HTML).

5,231+ extensions now cross-compatible — Pi ecosystem search + install

Every extension, skill, theme, and prompt on pi.dev is now cross-compatible with Soma. `soma:extensions.search` queries the full 5,231+ package catalog from inside a session. `soma install npm:` installs any of them with one command. `soma:agent.models` shows your enabled models live from settings. `soma:body.parts` auto-discovers your project and platform body files. Plus: the headless delegate hang (stuck TUI, couldn't ESC) is fixed with process-group kill, and cold muscle lists no longer dump 117 names into every session.

Query ANY platform docs as clean markdown — with refdocs

`soma:refdocs` discovers + fetches external documentation from any platform that follows the llms.txt convention — Cloudflare, React, Vercel, and 25+ others. One call discovers the docs source, another fetches any page as clean markdown (no HTML scraping), a third bulk-downloads organized .md files. The same release bumps Pi to 0.80.6 (max thinking level, Claude Sonnet 5, extension hooks) and adds Cloudflare-specific docs via `soma:cf-docs` on the hub.

Headless Claude sub-agents — on your subscription, not extra usage

Spawn a focused child agent through the official Claude CLI — it draws from your subscription plan instead of metered extra usage, the one headless-Claude path that doesn't bill overage. `soma claude ""` for a one-shot, or delegate with `model: 'claude-cli/sonnet'`; read-only by default. The same release restores the memory layer a path bug had silently dropped for months, and hardens the release pipeline against leaked credentials.

The $0.00 that meant it was flying blind — Fable 5 lands native

Anthropic's Mythos-class model — 1M context, vision, deep adaptive thinking — is now first-class: `soma --model fable`, with cost tracked per token instead of silently reading zero. The same release ships the meta-workflow cadence (the loop Soma uses to carry work across sessions and improve from its own incidents) as a core protocol you adopt per-project, plus a project-trust handler so your `.soma/` settings keep loading under the engine's new gating.

The body evolved — routing tables, core_rules, leaner preloads

Soma's body — the files that shape how it thinks — got a structural upgrade after a cross-project audit. A routing table in body.md means a fresh session finds the right context fast; core_rules.md now ships behavioral defaults so good habits load on boot; and _memory.md shed 32% to leave more room for the actual work. The preload fallback in core/preload.ts finally matches the template — code and docs can no longer drift.

Browser drives the web — xray, click, fill, wait

Four new browser caps ported from the reference CLI. Xray walks the DOM as a compact layout tree so you can survey a page before acting. Click uses Input.dispatchMouseEvent to bypass React Aria isTrusted checks — SPAs just work. Fill injects value + focus/change events. Wait polls for element appearance after SPA hydration. Plus: screenshot writes to /tmp for read-tool display, navigate returns tabId for chaining, and setup messages now list 7 browsers with verified launch flags.

Project trust — run code only after you approve it

Opening a cloned project never runs its code until you say yes. A trust check gates every `.soma/` from an untrusted source, so downloading and reading a repo is safe by default.

Web search, included with your Soma

A registered Soma can search the web from inside a session — no separate API key, no separate account. Built on your own SearXNG instance so the results stay private.

Skills, extensions, and themes share one format and one name: a package. Each keeps its author's licence. Publish to the hub with a single command; install from anyone's.
